Texas Tech University was created by means of legislative action in the year 1923. It has the uniqueness of being the biggest extensive higher education institution in the western two-thirds of the state of Texas. Texas Tech University is the major institution of higher education in the region and is the only campus in Texas that is home to a major university, law school, and medical school.

The academic makeup of Texas Tech University includes thirteen different colleges and schools. The University offers more than 150 undergraduate degrees, 100 graduate degrees, and 50 doctoral degrees.

From the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education’s “Very High Research Activity” category, Texas Tech University is among 131 universities and colleges. The University is also one of the 94 public institutions listed. The list is updated every three years and institutions must maintain specific criteria to achieve such designations. Texas Tech University first made the list in 2015 and it was reaffirmed again in 2018.

Texas Tech University’s Learning Program aims to serve and is supported by The Center for Transformative Undergraduate Experiences (TrUE) and the Teaching, Learning, and Professional Development Center (TLPDC) and provides information, opportunities, and support relating to service learning for faculty, students and community members, fostering an appreciation of the academic cum social values of engagement in community activities.

Scholarship Description:

As an international student, you have the opportunity to receive scholarships from Texas tech university. All students who are awarded competitive scholarships of at least $1000 per academic year also qualify to pay tuition at the resident rate.

The Scholarship Office offers four types of university scholarships:

• First-year recruitment scholarships are very competitive and are based on entering first-year students’ high school academic performance.

• Undergraduate transfer scholarships are also competitive awards based on transferring students’ academic performance at community colleges.

• Need-based scholarships are awarded based on the applicants’ federal student aid data (FAFSA) and another academic criterion. “Need” is determined by the Financial Aid Office.

• University-wide opportunity scholarships are special endowments made available disbursed to qualified applicants according to criteria other than academic merit or need.

Gifts received to support university transfer recruitment scholarships will be managed by the Texas Tech University Scholarship Office to ensure that university recruitment goals are met.

Texas Tech University Presidential Scholarship for Undergraduate Students

The Texas Tech University Presidential Scholarships are available to entering freshmen who show exceptional academic ability through superior test scores and class ranking.

Deadline for Application: 15th April 2021

Type: Undergraduate

Eligibility: To be eligible for the Presidential Scholarship, you must be an incoming freshman, first-year college student.

The applicant must maintain full-time enrollment in a Texas Tech University academic program and accumulate at least 30 TTU hours per year (checked in May).

Number of Awards: Not specified

Value of Award: Annual award amounts pay one-half toward fall and one-half toward spring terms. If you are a non-resident awarded a Presidential Scholarship, you will also qualify to pay in-state tuition.

How to Apply

If a student is eligible to receive one Presidential Scholarship from the TTU Presidential Scholarship program, the Presidential offer replaces any other Presidential scholarship offers. Presidential Merit Scholarships apply only to Texas Tech University programs of study. Texas Tech University scholarships do not transfer to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC), Texas Tech Costa Rica, or Angelo State University. The opportunity to be considered for TTUHSC scholarships will be available when you apply for admission to a TTUHSC program of study.
